“How crazy it is how much time people spend and wasting their time scrolling TikTok and editing useless videos!”
“How crazy it is how much time people spend and wasting their time scrolling TikTok and editing useless videos!
Instead, they should edit videos that are worth watching.
Hm….. I am not being a hypocrite because I know that was me, but just saying…..”
Heather was shocked when her son, Connor, told her these when they were on a car ride.
When Heather came to me, her son spent most of his free time on TikTok and gaming.
Before she worked with us, her 12-year-old son prioritized TikTok over school and family events, being disrespectful and sometimes aggressive.
Now, her son’s screen time has been reduced from 5 hours to 2 a day, and their relationship has become connected and full of hugs and thank yous.
In this win, her son started to observe others and his screen habits.
This is a huge win.
Many people want their children to change…. but have no idea how to facilitate the change.
All behavior change starts with the first and most crucial step, self-awareness.
When we realize we have a problem in ourselves or some undesired habits that do not serve us, we can start to learn the tools to eliminate the problem or undesired habits from our lives.
How do we raise self-awareness in our children?
The answer is Empowerment.
When we empower our children, we allow them to explore, engage, experience, and become influential in their choices, decisions, and day-to-day life.
It also nurtures them to become more self-aware of their surroundings and other people’s behavior, as it is part of the experience of exploring, engaging, and experiencing.
Sadly, most kids stay indoors, mindlessly scrolling on the screen, gaming, YouTube, or TikTok.
When engaging in mindless scrolling, your mind is trained to be passive, not thinking much, and just constantly consuming.
It does not promote self-awareness or critical thinking in our children, which are essential skills for them to constantly learn and improve themselves.
What do you think about your child’s screen habits?
Is the screen helping them prepare for their future, or has it been hooking their attention from their goals and possibly their bright future?
Please share by replying to this email and I promise I will read it and reply to you back.
