My child say yes to my rules, didn’t follow the rules, keeps breaking them, and has become sneaky and lying about their screen time
One of the common questions I got is “My child say yes to my rules, didn’t follow the rules, keeps breaking them, and has become sneaky and lying about their screen time”
One of the common mistakes I shared is many parents use technology use rules to get their children to put away their devices.
Let’s dive into why your child didn’t follow the rules or even break the rules.
There are many possibilities but two of them are
1) Your child disagrees with the rules but could be saying “yes” so that they can get out of the situation.
When you use rules, it means to follow “what you say”. But your child may disagree with you and didn’t voice it to you as he/she feels it is not safe to tell you.
When you don’t get your child to work collaboratively with you, your parenting journey is going to be difficult.
You have to realize in some domain of your life, be it business, career, parenting, or love & relationship, you need collaboration from other people to make it successful.
You need to get your child to be on the same page as you, then they can see your perspective and you see their perspective and that’s when two of you can work collaboratively.
2) Your child could not meet your expectations.
Perhaps your expectation is too high for your child or maybe your child did not understand what you wanted in the first place.
So there you are.
